Designing a magazine was an eye-opening experience for my graphic design work. It helped me discover how imperative it is to create an adaptable yet cohesive structure that can work for all applications, while still being visually unified. Using ECCC’s magazine gave me the opportunity to explore not only masthead and cover design, but all the inner workings of the magazine as well. Designing a table of contents, short and long form articles, as well as the class notes required me to solve a variety of design problems. The resulting design is best described as if the magazine got a haircut— it remains true to their current theme but is sharper, cleaner, and refreshing.
