Berlewi's exhibition poster from 1924
Henryk Berlewi was a Polish-Jewish designer in the early 20th century that pioneered the mechano-faktura philosophy of design. By de- and re-constructing his historic exhibition poster, I used its design elements to create a time-based design set to music from romantic composer Hector Berlioz’s Symphonie Fantastique that connected the 19th, 20th, and 21st centuries. This was my first foray into considering my design practice in the fourth dimension, and an exploration of creating a narrative through the coordination of visual movement with audio.
