There was a partial split in the textblock due to an area of unstable sewing.
The thin pages were guarded with 10 gsm tissue around station of the damaged gathering.
Spine repairs were made by removing areas of the old spine stiffener while avoiding damaging the tooling on the surface. The endcaps were stabilized with toned 10 gsm tissue and pared down 90 gsm paper.
The spine was re-backed with toned 18 gsm tissue and re-lined with document cotton.
The boards were re-attached using partial splits and transverse tackets. The thin boards and brittle endpapers did not make a full lining re-attachment possible.
