Dual colophons; manual typewriter text on vellum paper
This book is the outcome of me processing and working through concepts of cooperation, compromise, and connection. There are two sets of exactly identical pages housed within the structure. Without traditional communication through words or symbols, viewers are left to parse their own connection with the piece through the textures and layering of the papers. When two people engage both sides, they have no choice but to face each other and be briefly but undeniably connected by the conduit that is this book. The only words present are on a slip-sheet colophon with a brief artist statement that ends with a plea: “extend gentleness to others. Extend it to yourself, too.”
